Papa’s Camp
A stylish bushcamp with exclusive access to Murchison Falls National Park
Papa's Camp
With private access to 350 square kilometres of remote wilderness, 25 km upriver from Murchison Falls, Papa’s Camp is one of the most exclusive safari destinations in Uganda.
Named after Ernest Hemingway, who survived not one but two plane crashes nearby, Papa’s Camp is an intimate tented camp which evokes the classic safaris of old. Just five luxurious safari tents are dotted along the river with private verandahs and outdoor showers boasting views of the nearby rapids.
The remote location of the bush camp offers an exclusive wildlife experience in untouched surroundings. Murchison Falls is only a 1 hour game drive away, and guests can spot plenty of lions, buffalo and giraffes along the way. The wetlands are also a haven for Uganda’s birds, with Bishops, Wydahs, Bee-eaters and ground hornbills all frequently spotted, while night game drives reveal elusive sightings of leopard, mongoose and genets.
The highlight of the park is the rapid Nile River and boat safaris offer not only fantastic sightings of Nile crocodiles and hippos but also a chance to witness the awe-inspiring Murchison Falls, where 11,000 cubic feet of water plunges 45 meters. Papa’s Camp is located in one of the best spots for fishing the huge Nile Perch, which can grow to up to 2m long and often weighs almost 200kg.
The exclusive location and exciting safari experiences of Papa’s Camp make it a great destination for families with older children and teens seeking an authentic and unforgettable Ugandan safari experience.
