If you choose to stay on a wine estate or farm, your kids can get stuck into farm life. Farm tours, fruit and herb picking, and even duck herding are all possible.
If you’re short on time you can enjoy the sights, smells and tastes of a Cape Winelands tour from your base in Cape Town. But we recommend staying on a wine estate or a Cape Dutch style boutique hotel in one of the area’s pretty towns.
What to do?
You might choose to explore Franschhoek and the surrounding valleys courtesy of the Franschhoek wine tram. The hop on, hop off tram meanders its way through internationally acclaimed wine estates set amidst picture-perfect scenery.
Venture further afield with a privately guided tour that could include the university town of Stellenbosch or other wine centres such as Paarl.
Tours can be tailor made to suit your interests. Even if wine isn’t your pleasure, the region offers some pretty serious olives, cheeses, chocolates and other culinary delights to tease your taste buds.
