Desert Rhino Camp
A luxurious tented camp to discover the last true habitat of the black rhino
Desert Rhino Camp
Wilderness Desert Rhino Camp promises an extraordinary Damaraland adventure that not only showcases the country’s stunning landscapes but also champions wildlife conservation.
The camp’s most notable highlight is the chance to witness Critically Endangered black rhinos up close, a rare and humbling experience guided by experts from the on-site conservation partner, Save the Rhino Trust (SRT) Namibia. Home to one of the planet’s last free-roaming populations of black rhino, a portion of the camp’s revenue goes to support their ongoing conservation.
The camp’s setting is as dramatic as the wildlife it protects, characterised by moonlike landscapes featuring flat-topped mountains, wind-sculpted sandstone cliffs, and dry riverbeds. Guests can track black rhinos on foot across the open Damaraland plains and explore the 450,000 hectare Palmwag Concession with its proliferation of desert-adapted mammals, including elephants, giraffes, oryx, zebras, and more.
In the evenings, guests can gather around the campfire as the southern night sky comes alive with constellations before retreating back to their Meru-style tent. With only eight rooms, an intimate and secluded atmosphere pervades the camp, giving it an authentic safari feel.
