Island Bush Camp
A rustic bush camp in the game-rich South Luangwa National Park
Island Bush Camp
A simple safari lodge located in a very remote yet game-rich area of the South Luangwa National Park.
With only five chalets perched on stilts, a bush open-fire kitchen and no electricity, a trip to Island Bush Camp provides a unique bushcamp experience reminiscent of a bygone era. Although the chalets are understated in design, they have open walls to allow for panoramic views over the Luangwa River and optimal game-viewing from bed. Guests will not have to compromise too far however as a hot bucket shower is prepared twice a day and incredible three-course meals are prepared over open coals.
Island Bush Camp is renowned for its walking safaris through this remote and rugged region. Embark on an early morning bush walk to catch a glimpse of elephants, hippos, and harems of zebra. Evening game drives also regularly come across lions, hyenas and leopards dangling from the mahogany trees above, often with no other game vehicles in sight.
Evenings at Island Bush Camp are unforgettable, with an unspoilt starlit sky and serene stillness enhancing a riverside three-course dinner, accompanied by the groans of hippos and distant lion roars.
