Puku Ridge Camp
A newly-renovated lodge set on a ridge above the remote Kakumbi Plain
Puku Ridge Camp
Set on a ridge overlooking a private floodplain and lagoon, Puku Ridge offers a truly exclusive safari experience.
Located in a remote and extremely productive area of the South Luangwa National Park, guests can enjoy both day and night game drives, spotting some of the park’s 60 species of mammal. The park is home to four of the Big Five and is renowned for its strong leopard and Wild Dog sightings in particular. Expert guides will also point out the region’s endemic species such as the Thornicroft’s giraffe and Crawshay’s zebra.
The South Luangwa is the home of the walking safari and it remains the best way to see some of 400 species of birds that live here. Avid bird spotters should visit during the wetter Emerald Season when migratory species arrive in this area.
The camp’s main lodge takes inspiration from the classic bushcamps of old with an alfresco dining area, panoramic game-viewing deck and the all-important campfire. The eight tented suites are located a short walk away and are positioned to maximise views over the floodplain.
Guests can enjoy views of elephants, hippos and the Puku antelope from the comfort of their own plunge pool or in the camp’s eye-to-eye wildlife hide. While little ones will especially love sleeping out under the stars in the starbed on the top floor of every suite, while parents can sleep assured of their safety.
