Elsa's Kopje
An elegant safari camp with views over the magnificent Meru plains
Elsa’s Kopje
The opening of Elsa’s Kopje almost single-handedly rescued the rugged Meru National Park from obscurity and conversion into rice paddies.
Thatched cottages are blended into a rocky kopje and designed to maximise the panoramic views from their private verandah. Families are well catered for with a two-bedroom cottage as well as a large private villa with a large dining and sitting room, a private garden and infinity swimming pool.
Elsa’s Kopje is the only lodge located within the small Meru National Park, giving day and night game drives an exclusive and authentic feel. Spot a range of Big Five wildlife, from the 900 elephants living in the park to the black and white rhinos resident in the nearby sanctuary. Bush breakfasts, complete with freshly brewed coffee and stunning views, offer a luxurious way to start a packed day of activities.
The nearby Tana River offers a further opportunity for boat trips to spot leopards dangling in nearby trees or witness hippos and Nile crocodiles gliding past.
Those keen on fishing can also set up on the shady riverbank with some canapés and a good book. Following an exciting day, the whole family can enjoy refreshing dips in the camp’s infinity pool and a delicious dinner with views across the plains.
