Set on the banks of the Talek River in the heart of Kenya’s Maasai Mara, Ilkeliani is a wonderfully intimate camp for a luxury family safari.
A footbridge connects the camp with the reserve, while wildlife can often be seen from the riverside viewing decks, giving families a real sense of being immersed in the African wilderness.
The 12 spacious tented suites are raised on stilts and have private wooden decks overlooking the river and plains, with dedicated Family Suites making Ilkeliani particularly well suited to family safari holidays in Kenya.
Children of all ages are welcome, and the camp’s small size creates a relaxed, personal atmosphere.
Days are centred around expertly guided morning and afternoon game drives, with the chance to see lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, cheetah, giraffe, zebra and huge herds of wildebeest, particularly during the Great Migration.
Families can also enjoy guided walks, Maasai cultural experiences, horse riding and hot air ballooning over the Mara.
Back at camp, there’s time to relax by the pool or enjoy the spa, making Ilkeliani a lovely choice for families looking for a classic African safari with plenty of time to slow down and enjoy being together.
