Kisawa Sanctuary

Situated just 14km off the coast of Mozambique and set on its own private beach on the tip of Benguerra Island, Kisawa Sanctuary offers a luxurious retreat in the heart of the Bazaruto Archipelago. 

The 14 spacious bungalows are dotted along the tranquil coves, each enjoying at least an acre of private beach to enjoy. Kisawa Sanctuary is surrounded by a pristine marine national park, where 200 dugongs and three types of resident dolphins can be spotted from boat safari. Snorkel and scuba dive at one of three house reefs or witness the true beauty of the archipelago from above during a helicopter tour. Returning to the resort, indulge in a pizza-making workshop at the resort’s beach Tuk Tuk or enjoy one of Mozambique’s famous sunsets at the island’s towering Red Dune. Kids are also well catered for, from mini camping and rock fishing, to an afternoon of arts and crafts. 

A stay at Kisawa Sanctuary is not only a great beach destination to add to a luxury family safari but it supports marine research and conservation, with some proceeds going to nearby Bazaruto Center for Scientific Studies, Africa’s first permanent ocean observatory.
