When is the best time to visit Mozambique?
Read our advice on the best time to visit for a Mozambique luxury family holiday
Mozambique is a spectacular destination all year round
Blessed with tropical beaches and thriving coral reefs, there's never a bad time to visit Seychelles. The best time depends on what you're looking for from your luxury family holiday, but Mozambique is fortunate to benefit from appealing weather all year round.
The Dry Season
April to December
The best time to visit Mozambique is during the long dry season from April to December, when clear, sunny days and cooler temperatures offer ideal conditions for family beach days.
The diving and snorkelling is particularly good from April to June and again from September to November when the water is calm and clear and there are fewer tourists.
Those interested in whale-spotting should visit from June to November, when humpback whales begin to arrive on Mozambique’s southern coast after an epic migration from Antarctica.
The Rainy Season
January to March
From November, temperatures in Mozambique begin to rise, along with the chances of thunderstorms, with highs reaching the mid to late 30s. Inland areas see the weather change more quickly, but the coast continues to enjoy long, sunny days well into December – making it an ideal destination for a family Christmas holiday.
From January to March, the risk of cyclones can deter beachgoers, but this period offers unique rewards. It is prime time for snorkelling alongside sharks that gather around Mozambique’s coral reefs and witnessing the incredible sight of nesting leatherback and loggerhead turtles. Fewer tourists and lower prices only add to the appeal for those seeking a more tranquil escape.
