Deteema Springs Camp

Set on an historic picnic site overlooking the permanent spring, Deteema Springs Camp is an unpretentious tented camp sympathetically designed to blend into the rugged northwestern Hwange National Park. 

Set near the Deteema Springs—a year-round water source that draws incredible wildlife—the camp provides an intimate setting with just eight guest tents, including one for families. Each tent, elevated on wooden decking, offers spacious and comfortable interiors with en-suite bathrooms and private verandas. Communal areas like the cosy library, openair dining deck, and decked swimming pool ensure guests enjoy luxurious relaxation in classic safari style. The camp’s remote location, with few neighbouring camps, means that you will feel like you have the park to yourself. 

Families can embark on thrilling game drives, where they’ll encounter Hwange’s renowned elephant herds and spot some of the Big Five. Led by expert guides, drives through the rugged granite boulders and mopane forest that define this landscape, will reveal strong predator sightings including lions and rare African wild dogs. 

Walking safaris offer a deeper look at the ecosystem, perfect for older children to learn about Hwange’s flora, birdlife, and smaller creatures. Birdwatchers, too, will be captivated by the 420 species sighted here, including Egyptian vultures and colourful orioles.
