Fig Tree Bush Camp
An intimate bush camp overlooking a unique sandy lagoon
Fig Tree Bush Camp
Fig Tree Bush Camp is a luxury tented camp set in an untouched corner of Kafue National Park, nestled on the sandy banks of the Shishamba River.
Named after the giant fig tree which encompasses the central boma, the camp has just four ensuite tented camps raised up on stilts. Maintaining its alluring water throughout the season, the lagoon attracts an array of wildlife, including elephant, puku, and impala, which guests can spot from their treetop verandahs. After a three-course dinner, guests sit around a campfire, feet in the sand of the lagoon’s beach, gazing at the stars and listening to the sounds of the African Bush.
The camp offers twice daily game drives, one in the morning departing at sunrise, and one in the evening, which turns into a night safari. Spot the areas’ dense population of predators including lion, cheetah, leopard and hyena as well as wild dogs hunting the high concentrations of game. With relatively few people visiting this hidden gem, guests can enjoy drives away from the tourists crowds and a sense of exploring an uncharted wilderness. Sunset walking safaris are the perfect chance to get closer to nature than ever before and spot some of the parks’ plethora of birdlife.
Fig Tree Bush Camp is the perfect retreat for families seeking an intimate and authentic safari, where children and adults alike can marvel at wildlife from their treetop haven and immerse themselves in the wonders of Kafue’s untamed wilderness.
