Flatdogs Camp
A great value Zambian camp just outside South Luangwa National Park
Flatdogs Camp
Originally conceived as a backpackers’ destination, Flatdogs Camp has transformed itself into an unforgettable safari destination whilst maintaining its focus on value.
A true Luangwa institution, the camp now has a range of accommodation options to suit all budgets and needs. The two-story chalet rooms, with an upstairs twin bedroom and the master on the ground floor, shared a private verandah and kitchen, making it a great option for families looking for flexibility and affordability. The newly opened Croc’s Nest is a spacious tented house which can sleep up to six people with their own private pool, dining room as well as a personal safari guide.
Flatdogs’ convenient location makes a quick hop into the South Luangwa National Park very achievable. The Luangwa Valley is home to an astonishing diversity of wildlife. Alongside the Big Five, guests can hope to spot the endemic Thornicroft’s giraffe, large herds of bushbuck and wild dogs. Walking safaris with an experienced guide will also offer families an insight into 400 bird species and over 2000 types of plants found here.
After a packed day of activities (and an essential scenic sundowner), families will be glad to return to the camp’s tranquil pool, indulge in a candlelit dinner before sharing stories with like minded travellers at the bar.
