Hyena Pan
Affordable and intimate tented camp in the 200,000 hectare Khwai Private Reserve
Hyena Pan
Hyena Pan is a cosy tented camp in the Khwai Private Reserve, a game-rich area that borders the Moremi National Park and the Chobe National Park in Botswana. The camp is located 12 km north of the Khwai River, sheltered by mopane forest and overlooking a bustling watering hole.
With only eight roomy tents in a semi-circle around the permanent waterhole, you can enjoy an intimate experience of the surrounding wildlife from the comfort of your own private veranda.
The unpretentious thatched main lodge features a bar – hewn from an old tree trunk – an open air boma and a plunge pool, creating the perfect sanctuary to unwind from your day of activities. The lodge’s view overlooking the nearby Hyena Pan lagoon as well as the ground-level hide – a former shipping container – will ensure that you won’t miss any passing elephants, buffalo and zebras.
Hyena Pan offers a range of land-based activities including morning and night game drives, with regular sightings of leopard, lion and wild dogs along the Khwai River. Upon request, guests can combine a walking safari with an overnight stay at Skybeds, a camp featuring several elevated treehouse sleep-out decks.
With a reputation for its friendly atmosphere, stellar service and enviable game, Hyena Pan is ideal for those looking for an unfussy adventure into the delta.
