Riverdene Family Safari Lodge

Riverdene Family Safari Lodge is by far and away one of the best family-orientated safari lodges in South Africa.

It is set in Shamwari Private Game Reserve, one of the most well-known and successful in the country. A stay at Riverdene will give you a well-rounded safari experience (think Big 5, wildlife rehabilitation centre, anti-poaching unit visits, birding, etc) while also making sure that even the youngest members of the family can get in on the action.

Small children will be made to feel included not only by being allowed to join the game drives (if over 4) but by the exceptional rangers getting down to their level, and bringing everything to life for them. Older children and teenagers will be allowed free rein to explore as they see fit, and their particular interests taken into account too. The Animal Rescue and Education Centres are sure to interest the whole family.

Interleading rooms means you are never far away from each other, with cots, sleeper couches or extra beds all to hand. Meal times can be flexible to cater for differing needs, and the Kids On Safari facilities will keep your little explorers occupied for hours.

There is a wonderful outdoor play area complete with jungle gym, zip line and climbing wall and towers. You will also find plenty of indoor activities too, as well as childminding services, and a huge swimming pool.
