Kinondo Kwetu
A family-owned, boutique beach lodge, found on a private beach close to Diani
Kinondo Kwetu
Kinondo Kwetu is often described as a ‘home from home’ and a stay here feels like just that. The property is owned and run by the Andersson family, Swedes descended from Baron Blixen (of Out of Africa fame). Ida and Filip, with their three children, take a hands-on approach at Kinondo Kwetu, which reinforces the impression of being welcomed to their family home.
Accommodation is offered in a range of sizes, making this is a great choice for families. 8 suites are found in the Mama Taa villa, which can be booked individually or the full villa exclusively. 5 cottages are located around the small pool, close to the beach, with a larger pool found in the gardens near the spa.
The amount of activities on offer is enough to keep any family busy for as long as they are staying. Watersports are plentiful, including SCUBA diving, snorkelling, deep sea fishing and sailing. There’s also the option to take the horses out for a canter along the beach or explore the nearby sacred forest, or complete beginners can practise in the paddock.
The focus on health and wellbeing is deep and genuine. Kinondo Kwetu run regular yoga retreats and morning practice on their yoga deck atop the ‘holy cliff’ is an experience not to be missed. The perfect way to decompress after a safari.
Many properties claim to be unique, but Kinondo Kwetu truly is, and a stay here is sure to delight families of all ages.
