Volcanoes Kyambura Gorge Lodge

Volcanoes Kyambura Gorge Lodge is a luxurious property on the site of an old coffee plantation.

Entering the lodge, you’ll be struck immediately by the stylish lounge area, complete with artwork everywhere. The temptation will be strong to visit the gift shop straight away – the best we’ve found in Uganda.

Accommodation is provided in eight luxury bandas, four of which are deluxe. All rooms are incredibly spacious, with indoor and outdoor showers. The deluxe bandas look out to the thick vegetation of Kyambura Gorge, the others look out across the savannah of Queen Elizabeth National Park.

The swimming pool has epic views looking out to the Rwenzori mountains, and with personal butler service for all guests, you’ll feel truly spoiled.

As well as taking part in game drives in Queen Elizabeth National Park, guests can take a guided walk from the lodge down into Kyambura gorge. Chimpanzee tracking is also available, although sightings are not as reliable as in Kibale National Park.

The lodge has been open since 2011 and was previously a working coffee plantation. Guests can visit the nearby coffee co-operative to learn how the coffee that’s served at the lodge is grown and processed. Disadvantaged young people from the local community are trained up here and there is a very nice cafe to stop and have a slice of pizza.
