Explore and discover the breathtaking regions of Malawi
You'll be spoiled for choice when planning your Malawi family safari holiday
Our favourite places for a Malawi holiday
Lying in the heart of central Africa, Malawi is a compact yet incredibly diverse country. Often overlooked in favour of more well-known African destinations, a luxury family safari to Malawi offers everything from off the beaten track game drives in Liwonde National Park to snorkelling in Lake Malawi.
The sprawling waters of Lake Malawi define the country, covering almost a fifth of its landmass. Many stay on the lake’s remote shores to soak up some sun as well as to snorkel, dive and kayak in the waters teeming with wildlife. Visitors can also try their hand at sports fishing on the lake or opt for a visit to a local fishing village.
South of the lake, the little known Liwonde National Park is one of Africa’s most exciting safari destinations. With black rhinos, leopards and lions all recently reintroduced, the park is a great place for families to spot the Big Five without the crowds of other safari parks. You can also embark on guided walking safaris and boat safaris along the Shire River, which is regularly visited by hippo, crocodiles, elephants and an array of birdlife.
The high grasslands of Mount Mulanje and the Zomba Plateau are one of our favourite destinations for hiking, climbing and horseback riding through a completely unique landscape.
The compact size of Malawi means you can explore all these highlights with minimal travel time, making it an exceptional destination for families looking to immerse themselves in Eastern Africa’s unique landscapes and rare wildlife.
