Olakira Migration Camp

Olakira Migration Camp is one of our favourite mobile safari camps in the Serengeti. As with all other Serengeti mobile camps, the main purpose is to get as close to the action as possible. 

The camp moves twice a year to follow the great migration and both the locations in the north and south are truly fantastic. Olakira’s site in the north is the envy of many others, adjacent to a wide bend in the Mara river. When we stayed here in July we actually saw a river crossing from the camp – a rare treat!

Accommodation is provided in 9 luxury safari tents, with the added feature of a 270 degree star-gazing extension. Guests can choose to have their bed rolled out under the mosquito net canopy and experience a night under the stars. Two tents are connected via a walkway to provide a family tent.

Olakira Migration Camp is operated by Asilia Africa, who are amongst the finest safari operators in the country. Their guides are expert naturalists and all the camp staff are friendly, accommodating hosts. A stay here will add a touch of magic to any family safari holiday.

Olakira combines perfectly with Ngorongoro, Lake Manyara and/or Tarangire, to complete the Northern Tanzania circuit.
