Nestled in North-Western Botswana, the Okavango Delta sits in the heart of the Kalahari Desert and covers over 600,000 hectares along with 1.2 million hectares of seasonally flooded grassland. Numerous private wildlife concessions can be found dotted throughout the Delta, and the Moremi Game Reserve sits on the Eastern edge.
For the savvy families who choose a Botswana safari holiday, camps in the Okavango Delta are remote, ensuring a sense of total privacy.
With lodges nestled within inland wetlands, water channels, floodplains, or open grassland, the final part of your journey here will always be safari-viewing at its best.
Day 1 - 3 Day 3 - 6 Day 6 - 8The site where the Okavango River diverts into the many fingers of the delta, flooding and receding during the year, is a flourishing oasis filled to the brim with wildlife and unforgettable water and land-based safari experiences for every age group.
When it comes to a luxury safari holiday, the diverse topography and changing seasons of the Okavango Delta mean endless activities to suit each member of your family.
Water-based activities such as boat safaris, mokoro paddling through hidden channels, and helicopter safaris, are popular when water levels are high.
During the drier season, travellers can experience hot air balloon safaris, horse riding, and guided walks. Be sure to ask about age limits for each experience.
Day 1 - 3 Day 3 - 6 Day 6 - 8Known as the world’s largest waterfall thanks to its 108 m height combined with a vast 1708 m width, Victoria Falls deserves its reputation as a globally iconic destination.
At its peak, approximately 5 million cubic tonnes of water cascade over the falls every minute, creating a rising mist and resounding roar that can be seen and heard for miles around.
Commonly referred to by their Lozi name of ‘Mosi-oa-Tunya’ meaning ‘The Smoke That Thunders”, Victoria Falls is a bucket list destination for many and the ideal start or end to a Southern-Africa itinerary.
