From £3,880 | $5,320 per person (based on 2 adults sharing)
June - February
Our Uganda luxury gorilla and lion safari features two of Uganda’s most incredible wildlife experiences: the gorillas of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest and the tree-climbing lions of Queen Elizabeth National Park.
Over a period of six nights and seven days, you’ll experience two epic safari adventures in Uganda’s south west.
- 1 night in Entebbe,
- 2 nights in the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park,
- 3 nights in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest.
On our Uganda luxury gorilla and lion safari, you’ll experience the magnificent wilderness of the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park. Here, you’ll look for lions lazing in fig trees, enjoy breakfast in the bush, and relax around the campfire in the evening, trading stories of the day’s adventure.
You’ll then journey on to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest for the highlight of any Uganda safari holiday: gorilla trekking. Mountain gorillas are only found in two locations in Africa, one of which is Bwindi, where 50% of their number are found. A day of gorilla trekking involves walking through pristine rainforest, followed by an hour spent in the company of a gorilla family. You’ll be amazed at how they interact; their social hierarchy, and how they tend their young. This hour will be one to live on in the memory forever.
Pricing and considerations
This itinerary can be enjoyed all year round, but for the best time to visit Uganda for easiest trekking conditions is June to October, and January to February.
Whilst we recommend Uganda for people of all ages, the minimum age for gorilla trekking and chimpanzee tracking is 15 years.
Our guide price for this itinerary is from £3,800 | $5,320 per person (based on 2 adults sharing), using our best value accommodation in low season.

Day 2 - 3
This morning, you’ll be transferred back to Entebbe airport for your light aircraft flight to Kihihi in Western Uganda.

A wonderful tented camp on the banks of the river, this is a lovely base from which to explore the Ishasha sector. Your guide will organise game drives, bush breakfast, guided walks and much more, for an incredible wilderness experience.
In the evenings, enjoy delicious food, whilst listening to the sounds of the bush and the river.Accommodation suggestion
Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
Day 4 - 6
You’ll leave Ishasha after breakfast and be driven to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest.
Sanctuary Gorilla Forest Camp is one of the few properties located within the boundary of the national park, and is the most established luxury camp in Uganda.
This will be your base for the gorilla trekking that begins the following morning. Gorilla trekking can take a couple of hours, or the whole day, depending on where the gorilla family are located in the forest.
You’ll also have a day at leisure to explore nearby Buhoma and experience some of the wonderful other activities to be found here. We recommend a bird safari walk through the forest, a visit to one of the many community collectives that are supported by your visit, or a relaxing massage in Sanctuary’s signature spa.Accommodation suggestion
